On May 4th, administration at Jeanne Melham Memorial Medical Clinic in Broken Bow, Nebraska announced the temporary closure of OB services at their facility due to a lack of physicians able to handle the 24/7/365 call requirements necessary. In it’s place, they were pleased to announce a new “Shared OB” arrangement with Obstetricians & Gynecologists in Grand Island and Hastings. With this arrangement, pregnant women in the Broken Bow and surrounding area would have the ability to retain their local physician for routine prenatal care, supplemented with various visits with Dr. Tyler Adam of Obstetricians and Gynecologists throughout the pregnancy. Dr. Adam travels to Broken Bow every Thursday and would be able to see these patients in Broken Bow as well. Once it became time, patients would then travel to Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings for delivery.
This “team approach” is advantageous for patients because it allows them to maintain the highest quality of obstetrical care, while having the ability to stay close to their homes, families and support systems. This approach is also great for the local communities in the area because is increases the likely hood of patients continuing their care, with local physicians and facilities, long after the pregnancy. Dr. Adam is one of only a few physicians in the State who are Certified as a Surgeon of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery and offers a wide variety of services for women; including but not limited to services related to infertility, incontinence, medical weight loss, and many more common concerns.
